ITINERARY

Tour program

This tour is provides in shared service along three days and two nights. The adventure trip begins with the visit to the Cemetery Train (locomotives that are outdoors since the late nineteenth century). Then the trip continues, going to the town of Colchani where we will observe: mounds and blocks of salt, salt processing, refining saltpeter and we will also have time to visit the market where they sell crafts made with salt, alpaca and llama wool textiles. Finally we will observe the Salar that has an extension of more 12,000 km² with a depth that goes from 10cm to 8 meters, surrounded by mountains and volcanoes over 5,000 meters above sea level.

Continuing with the adventure, we headed to the “Isla de Pescado”, a beautiful place in the middle of a white sea of ​​giant cactus, petrified coral rock formations and witnessing a majestic view of the Salar, we will enjoy lunch. You will have free time to walk around the island and then continue with the tour to the town of Atulcha where there is a small and famous hotel – museum built with blocks of salt.  Then we continue our trip San Juan town where you will spend the night in family homes.

After breakfast, we start our tour at 8:00 am to Laguna Colorada, on the way you will observe the active volcano Ollague (5.865 meters above sea level) and the Lagoons of Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarcota and Honda where the flamingos rest and feed during their migratory movements. At noon, we stop for have a lunch. Then continue our journey through the Siloli Desert where there is the “Stone Tree” with a peculiar rock formation due to wind erosion of time, finally we reach the Laguna Colorada, located in the Park National Andean Fauna Eduardo Abaroa; where every person must register in one of the different checkpoints and pay their income. Close to this lagoon is the hostel where you will spend the night, the accommodation is simple and basic with rooms shared with other tourists.

This day we started very early at 5:00 am to visit the geysers fumaroles in volcanic area at 4, 950 meters above sea level, we continue the trip to the Thermal Baths of Polques (if you want you can enjoy a small hot bath), it is in this place where we will have breakfast . Then we continue through the Dalí Desert towards Las Lagunas Blanca and Verde which are at the foot of the Licancabur Volcano (5,930 masl). After visiting the lagoons, we will return to Uyuni, on the way we will stop for lunch and continue our journey through the Valley of Rocks (huge and giant blocks of reddish rocks) and the villages of Villa Alota, Kulpinaka and San Cristóbal. We arrived to Uyuni at 06:00 pm approx.

To return to La Paz, you must be in the bus station at 7:30 p.m.

* You get Uyuni at 5:00 am; our local operator will pick you up from the Uyuni bus station and give you all detailed information about the tour.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The entrance tickets to:

  • Isla del Pescado or Incahuasi  costs 30 Bolivian currency’s pesos  or  $5 dollars per person
  • National Park  costs 150 Bolivian currency’s pesos.bolivianos or  $25 dollars per person
  • Hot springs cost  $6 dollars per person

The payment for public restrooms varies between 2 and 5 bolivianos
