What is there

What is there to discover on this Tour?

Having the experience of making the journey through the waters of the highest and navigable lake in the world will transport you to an unforgettable experience.

Its blue and clear waters will invite you to jump into the water just for a moment (if you want to carry out this adventure, coordinate it with the guide to show you the right place and how to do it). Taquile Island was one of the last Peruvian towns that capitulated against the Spaniards in the sixteenth century. It was used as a prison during the Spanish colony in the 20th century and in 1971 it became the property of Taquilean people.

Their magic, mysticism and knowledge can be transmitted through their garments because they retain much reminiscence of pre-Columbian times in their quality, design and multicolored symbols, their handmade weavings are within the finest craftsmanship they were honored to be proclaimed “Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity “For UNESCO and we are so proud to highlight that spinning and weaving is done mainly by men.

Despite the fact that the island is close to the city and the constant changes in technology and modernity, the people of Taquile have preserved their traditions and customs. The wealth of the place is made up of Quechua origin and its charming and friendly people, traditions and the existence of ruins of pre-Inca buildings located in strategic points along the island will invite you to spend even one night there in families home to enjoy the homestay and mysticism.

In the way to get the center of the island you will find natural viewpoints that allow you to take spectacular photos of this wonderful place as well as the lake. Also you will find Cantuta flower declared as the National Flower of Peru. The Island is blessed with a favorable microclimate for agriculture thanks to the thermoregulatory effect of the lake.
